The Energietechnik Essen GmbH develops, produces and supplies safety-relevant high-tech products, mainly for manufacturers of power generation machinery. When the first turbo-generator was built at the start of the 20th century, the Essen-based company supplied the retaining rings. Retaining rings are placed on the ends of the rotors to fix the copper coil against the centrifugal forces created by the high rotational speeds. The oldest documents in the company's archive relating to non-magnetisable retaining rings date back to 1901. Energietechnik Essen GmbH uses two remelting units, one electroslag remelting unit and one pressurised electroslag remelting unit, to produce the materials for retaining rings.

Fő tevékenysége autóbuszokhoz ablakok gyártása, valamint mezőgazdasági gépek javítása. 1990-ben az Agrikon-ból kivált a kerekegyházi egység, és megalakult az Agrikon Fémipari Rt.. A társaság tulajdonosa a korábbi Mezőgép-Agrikon csoport, tevékenységi köre ekkor nem változott. 1994-ben a privatizáció során a kibocsátott részvénycsomagot magánszemélyek vásárolták meg, ekkor a fő tevékenység járműablakok, háztartási és ipari létragyártás, tápszekrények, épületlakatos termékek (ablakok, ajtók, függönyfalak) gyártása mellett egyéb felületkezelési munkákat is végeztek. A 2000-es évtől kezdve egyre inkább előtérbe került az egyéb acéllemez- és alumínium termékek gyártása. 2004-ben további acéllemez- és alumínium termékek gyártása került a társasághoz, az alábbi tevékenységi körök mellett: lemez feldolgozás, hajlítás, hegesztés. Ezen tevékenységi körök tulajdonképpen a mai napig megmaradtak. A társaság 2009.02.09.-től a SÁS Vagyonkezelő és Szolgáltató Kft. 100 %-os tulajdonában van Gorter Fémipari Zrt. néven. A cég fő profilja az alumínium lemez és profil, valamint az acél lemez megmunkálás az alapanyagtól a festett, szerelt, és kész termékig, gépalkatrészek, valamint tető-, fali- és padlóajtók gyártása. Jelentős ezen kívül a felületkezelési bérmunka is (porszórás, passziválás és eloxálás), amit acél és alumínium termékek esetében egyaránt végzünk.
